Chivalry is Dead

So I totally understand that because women decided that we should be treated like equals, it also determined that nor should we receive special treatment. But why has common courtesy seemed to die with it? Trust me, I am not the girl who expects to get treated any different. But why is it that men are so strong about not hitting women, but they won't take the simple measure of standing up in a moving vehicle? I understand the differences between the two but women use that as a way to rant and rave like lunatics without any consequences. I've always said that if a woman can slap and hit and cuss like a man, sometimes she deserves to be hit like a man.
But back to my original point. I ride the bus to and from work Mon.-Fri. And everyday its packed. People crowded in like sardines. Not once have I seen a man offer a seat to a woman. Or even to the elderly or handicapped for that matter. You know those signs that say "please reserve seats for the elderly and handicapped"? I promise its not just a decoration.
Chivalry is dead. In a society when no one wants to give up a seat for a woman, or a child, or anyone else or would probably appreciate it more; In a society where everyone is taking, and no one is giving; what separates us from the uncivilized?
